Correcting a balance
The app works out each balance from the transactions it knows about. If something never reached it — cash you spent, or a bank message that didn’t arrive — the figure will drift from your bank’s.
The notice you’ll see
Section titled “The notice you’ll see”When there’s a gap, the account screen shows Balance doesn’t match your transactions, along with how big the gap is.
It isn’t an error in your account. It just means money moved and the app didn’t see it.
Two ways to fix it
Section titled “Two ways to fix it”1. Set the balance yourself
Section titled “1. Set the balance yourself”- Open the account and tap Edit Balance.
- Enter the balance exactly as your bank shows it now.
- Save. The app carries on counting from that number.
This is the quickest fix when you know the right figure.
2. Read the balance from your messages
Section titled “2. Read the balance from your messages”Many bank messages include your balance. The app can take that as its starting point and count on from there.
The setting is Sync balance from SMS, in Settings under Preferences. It’s on from the start.
You can also switch it on straight from the mismatch notice on the account screen.
- If you spend a lot of cash, record it as you go. That’s the most common cause of a gap.
- After a correction, leave it a day and see whether the gap comes back — if it does, something isn’t reaching the app at all.
Common problems
Section titled “Common problems”I fixed it and the gap came back — transactions aren’t reaching the app. Check your message setup in Automatic tracking.
The balance is frozen — if you’re reading balances from messages, the app is waiting for a message with a newer one. Turn the setting off and set the balance yourself.
