Income vs expense

The fastest read on whether you’re on track.

What came in against what went out, with the savings rate.
What came in against what went out, with the savings rate.
  • Total income and total expenses for the period.
  • Net balance — the difference. Positive means something was left over; negative means you spent more than came in.
  • Savings rate — the net as a share of your income.
  • Monthly comparison — income and expense bars, month by month.
  • Best month and worst month in the period, plus your average monthly surplus.

A month with a trip or a big purchase will come out negative, and that’s normal. Two or three in a row is the part worth worrying about.

  • Pick 1Y or All to see the real shape; a single month misleads.
  • If your savings rate dropped, open Monthly living costs and check whether the fixed side moved or the variable side.

Income shows zero — your pay isn’t recorded as income. See Adding a transaction.

The net is higher than it should be — a transfer between your own accounts was counted as income. Fix it in Transfers.
